Description

Dalla Valle – Cabernet Sauvignon 1998 (750ml)

In 1983, Gustav and Naoko Dalla Valle began planting vines on the hillside of Oakville, overlooking Napa valley. Their vineyards produce excellent quality grapes, resulting in wines of great intensity, complexity and balance. Gustav passed away in 1995 and Naoko Dalla Valle continues the legacy of Dalla Valle wines. Dalla Valle Vineyards produces three wines: Maya (55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Cabernet Franc), Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Pietre Rosse (100% Sangiovese).

Winemaker Notes

The 1998 is showing lovely balance and refinement with an evolved nose of blackcurrants and flowers—very Bordeaulais. Exceptional approachability. Mouth-coating cassis, white chocolate and a soft, smooth finish. What a treat!

Critical Acclaim

RP93
Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
The spectacular, full-bodied 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon possesses great character, richness, and black currant fruit intermixed with licorice, tobacco, and smoke. While not as opulent as some vintages, it is exceptionally concentrated, long, and reminiscent of a ripe Bordeaux from a top vintage.
WS91
Wine Spectator
Well-proportioned, with a mix of generous plum, black cherry and blackberry fruit, anise, sage and cedar. The texture is supple and polished, with a long, complex finish.
